We think it’s pretty safe to say that 2020 has been a year unlike any other. This year we’ve made it through lockdowns, masks, elections, and those murder hornets. Through it all, Brooks Law Group remained here for our clients and our community. Although it’s easy to say we want to leave 2020 behind us, we wanted to take a look back at the great things that have happened in just a year’s time.
The Effects of COVID-19
The year started off pretty normal, and our offices were bustling with activity. Our Winter Haven offices are the home base of our operation, but we continued to grow our Tampa office too. In Auburndale, our Social Security team stayed busy each day.
Then quarantines started. Most of our staff started working from home, with a few essential personnel remaining in the office. We learned words like “social distancing” and lived by them. Masks became a requirement, and it would be impossible to count how many Zoom calls our staff have had since March.
Through it all, the well being of our clients remained our focus. Thankfully, all of our files were cloud-based, which allowed case managers, paralegals, and attorneys to work safely at home. This also meant that the quality of service our clients received never wavered. We were able to keep working on their cases to make sure they got the care and compensation they needed.
As courts closed, remote depositions became commonplace. Our attorneys have been willing to learn and evolve as the legal system has changed, seemingly, day by day. Brooks Law Group has been ready for a moment like this, and we have not stopped.

Giving Back to the Community
It’s impossible not to see the effects the pandemic has had on our local economy. With so many businesses closed and folks out of work, we needed to do our part to help. The communities around Winter Haven and Tampa have supported and embraced us every step of the way. It’s always a blessing when we’re able to do the same.
Remember when you first heard that you had to wear a mask everywhere? Masks were hard to come by, but we knew how they would keep others safe. So we put together face covering kits and put on a drive-through giveaway! Anyone could stop by our office and safely get a face covering. But it wasn’t just one giveaway—it was such a success that we had to do it again a few weeks later.
The heroes of this year have definitely been our first responders and healthcare workers. There’s no way for nurses or firefighters to work from home, and we are incredibly grateful for their sacrifice. As a small token of our gratitude, we supplied lunch for several first responders and healthcare workers in our communities.
Finally, we knew we had to put on our Turkey Giveaway again this year. With so many families struggling this year, it was important that we not just hold the event. We had to make it even bigger. With the help of our staff, their families, and many volunteers from around the community, we gave away 400 turkeys. It was so special for us to bless the Winter Haven and Tampa communities in this way!
Looking to the New Year
Now that we’re stepping into a new year, we have to start looking towards the future. Brooks Law Group has never been one to rest on their laurels. There is so much to accomplish and so many people that still need help. And that’s exactly what we’re here to do.
Our staff continues to grow, and we’re proud of how well they can adapt to change. We’ve got great plans for ways to improve our organization under the leadership of Steve Brooks and Beach Brooks, Jr. You can bet that the Brooks Law Group at the end of 2021 will be even bigger, better, and stronger.
