Today is a day to celebrate, appreciate, and respect women. International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8, annually around the world with different themes surrounding the day each year. On this day we reflect on many successful women throughout history. Women like Cleopatra, Catherine the Great, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Rosa Parks, and Malala Yousafzai have become role models for women and men alike. We celebrate the achievements made by women to vote, pursue an education, and be leaders for the human race. While all of these women are recognized internationally, we would like to show our appreciation for the women making strides when no one is looking.
Our firm is blessed to be full of strong and hard working women. They are mothers, wives, daughters, sisters, and friends. Some of them, like Sharteen Viera, balance many different titles with absolute grace. Sharteen has been a wife for 16 years and is the mother to four children ages 18, 12, 8, and 3. While this may sound like your typical American women, this is not all she does. She is a full time case manager here at Brooks Law Group, and is working towards her second bachelor’s degree at Warner University. Her ultimate goal is to finish this degree in Transformational Christian Ministries and allow God to use her degree as he has planned. She says she could see herself using her education in the field she is currently in because she meets people at a time in their life when they are injured and hurt. Sharteen fearlessly puts her faith in God to use her to fulfill his plan and is determined to go where He leads her.

There is a quote that says, “Behind every successful woman is herself,” but for Sharteen there is so much more. She attributes much of her success to others. “I wish I could take the credit but I can’t,” she expressed. Her success comes from trusting God, a helpful husband who is devoted to her and their children, and kids that are very understanding when she needs to focus on her school work. While everything that Sharteen is juggling may seem overwhelming to some, she still finds time to take long walks with her huge 150 pound Boxer Pitbull mix and be her own person.
