# Kavya Shah - Fall 2018 Scholarship Second Place | Brooks Law Group

## The Brooks Law Group Scholarship

One of the things that brings me the most joy in my practice is helping others. I’ve spent my career fighting for justice on behalf of our clients for their personal injury, auto accident, social security and wrongful death cases. The Brooks Law Group has been blessed with over 25 years of service to our community. Our firm desires to make an impact in our community and our state beyond offering our legal services.

That’s why we started [our biannual scholarship program](https://brookslawgroup.com/scholarship/). Twice a year we award scholarships to Florida students to help them achieve their educational goals. College gets more and more expensive every year and paying for tuition and other expenses adds up fast. Every Fall and Spring, we select two students, either high school seniors or current undergraduate students, and award them with a scholarship to help lessen the financial burden.

## This Semester’s Second Place Winner

Just as with our first place winner, we had a fantastic submissions from Kavya Shah, our Fall scholarship second place winner.

Kavya is a high school senior from Windermere, Florida. Kavya’s essay on the topic of motorcycle accidents did an excellent job bringing the tragic topic to life by relating it to real life events. His essay also highlighted why motorcycles can be so dangerous and what steps riders should take to maintain safety on the streets.

## Student Background

Looking to get to know Kavya a little better? Here’s some background information on this Florida student:

My name is Kavya Shah, and I am a 17-year-old senior at Windermere High School, in Windermere, FL. Next year, I plan on going to a 4-year university to study molecular biology. I am extremely passionate about my environment and would like to one day become a plant pathology researcher. Along with environmental science, I am also very involved in my local community, volunteering as a tutor at my high school, front desk greeter at my local hospital, and computer science teacher at my old middle school.

I know that paying for college will pose a significant burden on my parents, who have already been very supportive of me for the past 17 years. So, I am entering the Brooks Law Group Scholarship Contest to help alleviate some of this strain. Thank you for choosing such an interesting essay topic to write on!
